Fireworks, a one-stop application for creating Web graphics, is built around a distinct tool kit that lets you draw and edit paths with vector-based tools and then stroke those paths with a bit-mapped effect. You can edit and change the paths later, and Fireworks will automatically restroke the path.

While Fireworks' drawing tools are particularly suited to Web designs that require pictures and elements to change frequently, the program also boasts an excellent interface for compressing images. We wish, however, that Fireworks supported Boolean operations and offered more control over choosing and locking colors in a palette. Still, Fireworks' compression facility and flexible drawing tools make it a very good investment for busy Web designers.
