Matsushita Introduces Super Disk Drives

Matsushita Electric Industrial and Matsushita-Kotobuki Electronics <6783> announced that the company introduced its new double-speed super disk drive. The drive is Macintosh-compatible and is designed to match the popular "transparent" color of the iMac and Power Macintosh G3 computers. The drive has a capacity of 120 MB and can write on 3.5-in. floppy disks. It has a revolution speed of 958 Kbits/second. In addition to the transparent model, the company is also launching five colored models based on the iMac colors. These models will be available at the end of May for a limited time. The price is 33,800 yen, and the company will be producing 10,000 units per month.
