World traveler finds her niche in advertising

Stephanie Cline

Judith Moak has seen the world and now calls Colorado Springs home. She has traveled to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Austria, Amsterdam, London and the Bahamas, but she knew she wanted to settle near mountains.

Moak, who is 30, is an account executive for the Lamar advertising company for Colorado Springs and Pueblo. I had always wanted to work in advertising, Moak said. She joined the Lamar team in 2003 and couldn't love her job more. Lamar is an outdoor advertising company that specializes in billboards, bus benches and transit shelter posters. According to Moak, there are 170 Lamar plants in the United States. It's nice because we can help clients in different cities, Moak said.

At Lamar, Moak helps clients reach the audiences they'd like to impact. We work together to come up with a campaign, she said. I help with their general layout and their message. I feel that I really am helping people with their business.

Moak graduate from Louisiana State University in 1997 with a degree in journalism. While attending LSU she worked at the campus newspaper The Daily Reveille. She met her husband, Cliss, at LSU and they married in 1999. They have a 5-month old son named Carter. He is the light of my life right now, Moak said.

She and her husband moved to Colorado Springs in 2000. We actually knew we wanted to move, and we knew we wanted to go somewhere with a beach or mountains. We drove up here and looked at Colorado Springs, Boulder, Denver and Fort Collins and we like Colorado Springs the best, Moak said. We love it here. The business community is very open and we felt it was a great place to raise a family.

Speaking of family, Moak's sister has moved to Colorado Springs with her husband and son, and her parents are planning to join them here as well. Moak's father works for an oil company and her parents live in Saudi Arabia. We got to do a lot of traveling, Moak said.

The advertising world has proved just as exciting and Moak is not interested in entering any other career field. This is definitely what I want to do and I want to make a career of this for the rest of my working days, Moak said. Before joining Lamar, Moak worked with KKCS - also known as CS102, The Colorado Springs Independent and The Colorado Springs Business Journal.

These days, Moak lives a much busier life. I don't really have much time. My hobby is my baby, Moak laughed. She and her family still find time to work on home improvement projects and go hiking and camping.

And there is never a dull moment at Lamar either. I'm always meeting new and interesting people. And I really like the people I work with. In a way it is something new and different everyday. It's never boring, Moak said. It keeps me on my toes.
