The premier issue (September/ October 2003) of Digital Photo Pro, published by the same people that issue PC Photo Magazine appeared in late August 2003. The publication was mailed to all current subscribers of PC Photo and editorial content will be directed to more knowledgeable and experienced digital photographers. The editors explain that the magazine did not come into existence until the emergence of a number of affordable D-SLRs and indeed the feature article is a discussion of currently available D-SLR models.
This first issue included portfolio articles by Jay Maisel, Peter Road Miller, Jeff Schewe, and Howard Schatz as well as technical discussions of digital grain by Rob Shepherd, getting bigger enlargements from digital images by Tim Grey, and understanding image sensors by Michael Guncheon.
The articles are well-written and illustrated and there is a good mix of portfolios, technical material, short news notes and advertising. Digital PhotoPro's initial issue is a thoughtful effort that will appeal to the experienced digital photographer.
