Colorful cutouts
Henri Matisse was a famous painter. But when he became ill and could no longer paint he created art by cutting out shapes from brightly painted papers. He got the idea for these large leaf shapes from a plant in his art studio. Matisse arranged the colorful shapes over and over on his wall until he felt that the design looked just right.
