Nature - Brief Article
Mary S. McCarthyThe Nature Division Center
All PSA members are invited to visit the Nature Division Center ("Den") at the Toronto Conference. The Center will be open Wednesday evening plus Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and part of Saturday. The Nature Den is a source of information about the Nature Division services. We will have the latest information on our library of instructional and exhibition slide sets and how to obtain them. A truly exceptional collection of slides from the 1997 and 1998 Minnesota Botany exhibitions will be available for viewing in addition to some of the winning nature essays and a selection from the rarely shown Permanent Slide Collection.
For those who have thought about joining a slide study circuit but haven't yet enrolled, there will be a signup sheet for that purpose at the ND Den. When you belong to a slide study circuit you not only receive constructive comments on your slides, but you also learn how to evaluate your work and that of others. The circuits are a great forum for the exchange of techniques and ideas.
You will be able to pick up entry forms for the PSA slide competition for individuals, for interclub competition and for some international exhibitions which have nature sections. There will be copies of the revised definition of nature photography and of the Nature Code of Practice. You can buy your Nature Division membership slide for only $1.
If you can volunteer an hour or two of your time to help in the ND Den, please contact Marilyn Cloran, APSA, 802 Humphrey St., Swampscott, MA 01907 or see Marilyn at the Nature Division meeting at the Conference on Wednesday afternoon. Helping in the ND Den is not only fun, but gives you an opportunity to meet other PSA members who are interested in nature photography.
