So, what's your strength
Staudinger, Michael CI'm heading to the gym soon to work out on the weights and aerobic systems so I can get stronger. I read a great many informative books so I can become wiser. And I've invested what money we can in good companies so I'll have income ready for retirement. I've got my bases fairly well-covered.
But God reminds me-and us all-that what makes us really strong is God:"The Lord is the strength of his people" (Psalm 28:8). Like children hiding behind a parent, we seek to use God's strength when life's bullies come against us:weariness, sadness, hopelessness, death.
How well do you do that? Are you frantic with the attempts to get strong so you can deal with it all yourself? Or do you let it go and hide behind God? How do you find God?The obvious answers are the spiritual disciplines: prayer, fasting, worship, service, study, contemplation. You know others too.
The point is: Take a good look at your strength. Are you trying to provide it out of your own self? Or are you actively seeking ways for God to give it to you?
