Advancing abortion
James P. WardIn his article "Denying Communion to Politicians" (June 4) Frans Jozef van Beeck writes: "I know of no Catholic politicians who have purposely sought to actively advance abortion; most are opposed to it 'personally'--a bad choice of words." Van Beeck should realize that when a politician like John Kerry expresses his support for unrestricted abortion with the enthusiasm that he does, he is advancing abortion, not just tolerating it. The "personally opposed, but" position is not only totally fraudulent, it is also dishonest and dishonorable.
