Mary S. McCarthyThe new Director of the Nature Division General Essay and Conservation Essay competitions is Eleanor L. Webster, APSA, 1009 Shoreline Drive, San Mated, CA 94404-2046, (415) 574-4177. She replaces Jean Burke, who directed these competitions for the past two years.
Rules for these essay competitions are published each year in the January issue of the Journal. (See p. 37) Although the closing date is months away, it is not too early to begin thinking about organizing your slides into an essay. If you would like to see a few of the nature essays that have won previously, you may borrow them from the Nature Division. The new Director of Slide Study Circuits is Joanne Stolte, 417 Bouganvillea, Glendora, CA 91741, (626) 335-3364. If you have thought about joining one of these circuits, please contact her for information on how to participate. A circuit not only gives you critiques of your slides, but also offers new ideas for nature subjects and techniques through the exchange of information that a circuit provides.
