Masthead symposium: Work in the 21st century
Semion, KayFeaturing an interview with AFL-CIO's John Sweeney
As we begin this century, the work place is evolving. International trade is increasing while we are still debating how to manage it - and to figure out its implications. Meanwhile, traditional manufacturing jobs are declining, and a growing number of workers are based at home as independent contractors. Union membership is declining for blue-collar workers yet increasing for professionals.
As a prelude to the September convention, with the theme of "A Nation That Works," the Fall Symposium looks at a few of the workplace issues.
You still have time to register for the Pittsburgh conclave. Check out the agenda at www.ncew.org and call NCEW headquarters at 301/984-3015.
