First, I'd like to thank all my NCEW colleagues who e-mailed, phoned, and wrote to wish me well on my departure from the Philadelphia Daily News.

But I must protest the disrespect to my alma mater in the previous Masthead by someone who ought to know better. Tommy Denton refers to my friend and erstwhile coworker, Signe Wilkinson, as cartoonist for the Philadelphia Inquirer! She is not and never has been. Signe's Pulitzer Prize-honored work appears in the Philadelphia Daily News.

I'm protesting on Signes behalf because everyone knows how shy she is. Besides, she tells me,"I'm an old fan of Tommy Dentons work in the San Francisco Chronicle."
