Your letters: Van Velzen's acts on dead babies is lowest of the low

J Andrews, Armagh

pounds 100 LETTER

THAT baby butcher Dick van Velzen should be made to pay for the heartache he has caused to many families.

Stripping organs from hundreds of dead babies without their parents' knowledge defies belief and should be banned.

Yes pathologists do need to carry out tests and experiments, but this has gone too far.

There has to be communication and parents have to be fully informed.

The events at the Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool is an outright disgrace.

I read that a jar containing a nine-week foetus in the hospital read "Inflated monster, Humpty Dumpty".

That so-called "monster" was someone's baby, someone's flesh and blood.

Hospitals have, over the years, been knocked for a variety of reasons - cleanliness, staffing, bed shortages etc., to name but a few, but this latest revelation really is the lowest of the low.

I'm sure that Frankenstein van Velzen was not acting alone. Other hospital staff must surely have been involved, or, at the very least, have been aware of what was happening.

The Government also stands condemned.

It has to get its act together and should launch an investigation in ALL hospitals.

The full rigour of the law should be brought to bear on those found responsible of such heinous deeds, for the sake of those little tots.
