Michelle: 'Saint' Daniel is Xmas number one with orphans
Alison Young,pounds 100 LETTER
I MUST CONFESS that, unlike thousands of others, I am not a fan of Daniel O'Donnell's music.
But that's not to say I don't respect Daniel as a person.
On the contrary - reading in the Irish Sunday Mirror about Daniel's efforts to help needy children in Romania has made me see the singer in a whole new light.
He is to be commended on the aid work he does, and continues to do, to provide children in Romania with new accommodation and take them out of the rat-infested orphanages, or "hell-holes" in which they presently live.
Both he and Derry woman Monica McDaid of the Romanian Challenge Appeal are to be praised as they continually try to give these children a better life and a more comfortable lifestyle.
And Daniel's fans, who have contributed to the Appeal, equally deserve a pat on the back.
Thanks to them, the children of the Siret orphanage and the town and surrounding area all received Christmas presents.
Daniel O'Donnell is unlike other so-called stars. He's not on an ego trip or any other trip. He happiest when his trip is to Romania to help these children and he is a true saint.
It's a pity Madonna couldn't take a leaf out of Daniel's book, after she spent more than pounds 1m on her wedding last week - and over a quarter of that figure was wasted on food and champagne.
