LETTER: TRADE UP IN SMOKE
Steve JonesAS the owner of a small hotel, I will be caught in the middle if the Government insists that I ban smoking because I serve food.
Our ten guest rooms and our restaurant are non-smoking, but we allow smoking in both our bars. In our function room, we leave it up to the customers to decide what they want.
I make more than two-thirds of my income from drink sales and, although guests do drink in the bar, the majority of my drinks business is from my regulars.
Most of them are smokers, so if I had to choose between smoking and food I'd be driven out of business.
The Government needs to recognise that there is not a one-size- fits-all solution - compromise and flexibility is what is needed.
