Ashfaq IshaqDear Readers,
When we launched our first Arts Olympiad in we did not know what to expect. How many will organize the program in their classrooms? How many students will participate? What will be the quality of the art? Will we even receive any art?
The results surprised us. The works of art began pouring in, and they were amazing. Eventually more than one million children worldwide created artworks under our program.
The results of the second Arts Olympiad (2000-2004) are even more amazing. We are delighted with our success in encouraging young artists: by offering the chance to meet and work with other artists from around the world during our international festival in Washington, DC, and also have their winning artwork exhibited in major venues worldwide, these talented youth devote themselves to the works they create. And as I'm sure you will agree, the results are truly remarkable.
We hope you enjoy this issue that features art, and the perspectives of the artists on our future.
