Ashfaq IshaqDear Readers,
This issue is a tour de force of children's museums around the world. It takes you to different countries, shows you some amazing artwork, and introduces you to remarkable individuals dedicated to promoting children's art.
Our survey of children's museums revealed that there are in fact only a handful of children's art museums in the world, when there should indeed be one in every major city and town.
How about starting a campaign to build a children's art museum in your community? You could show this issue of ChildArt to city officials and art patrons. Convince them that the children need their own museum. That it will showcase creativity of the future. That it will house the paintings made by masters when they were kids.
A children's art museum need not be a place simply to hang the artworks. It could be an atelier, with educational programs and workshops. And it need not have just art. You could bring in sciences and technology as well. In fact, it could show the interactions between art, science and technology. It may even have a playground. A few hours of art, and then you could play a sport. A place for body and mind, spirit and soul.
Happy reading!
