Mum and tot saved in plunge
BRIAN FARMERA YOUNG mum was saved from a raging river after apparently jumping in with her two-year-old daughter in her arms.
The woman, aged 26, is thought to have dived off the Humber Bridge at Hull but was pulled to safety still clutching her child.
The tot is being treated for hypothermia in intensive care, and her mother has multiple injuries.
In another drama, police and firefighters saved a motorist from drowning yesterday after his car careered off a road and plunged into a water-filled ditch.
The Peugeot convertible ended up on its roof submerged after crashing off the A47 near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
The driver scrambled into the boot but could not open the lid.
Police officers leaned on the front of the vehicle to stop the boot becoming totally submerged until firemen arrived.
They then winched the car clear to free the man. A man was arrested for suspected drink-driving.
