Football: THE BUTLER DID IT AGAIN

ANDY BUTLER sent Scunthorpe United top of League Two with the only goal of a hard-fought game at Glanford Park.

Iron manager Brian Laws was excited by his side's display.

"This was a very important win for us," said Laws: "Yeovil are a good side.

"The players are willing to work for each other and now having gone back to the top a third of the way through the season, we feel confident. But we are not taking anything for granted - the gap is so small nobody is running away with anything."

Butler headed home his fourth goal of the season 12 minutes from time as the Iron took over at the top.

Yeovil almost shocked the home side inside the first two minutes, when Andrejs Stolcers' shot was blocked by keeper Paul Musselwhite. The Iron had to make an unscheduled change when Cleveland Taylor hobbled off after half an hour, with Matthew Sparrow replacing him.

Scunthorpe came out for the second half with all guns blazing, and Sparrow was just wide with a shot before going close from a Peter Beagrie cross.

Scunthorpe finally broke through when they won a corner on the left and Beagrie delivered the perfect cross to Butler, who powered a header past Weale to take the honours and the points.
