Scott Perkins

Here are some more Sneaker Awards. Platinum Sneakers -- To Dr. Ron Hilton, East House Board member, for receiving a New York State Office of Mental Health 2001 Achievement Award for more than 35 years of active citizen participation. The awards program recognizes individuals, self-help groups, private providers and local government agencies who have demonstrated excellence in improving the lives of those served in the public mental health system. Dr. Hilton has demonstrated a lifetime of commitment to successfully advocating for service system changes aimed at improving the quality of care for persons with mental illness. In addition to East House, he has been an active participant in the Mental Health Association, New York State Commission on Quality of Care for the Mentally Disabled, the Advisory Committee to Protection and Advocacy for Mentally Ill Individuals, Compeer, and Family Services of Rochester. Gold Sneakers -- To Elite House of Hair Fashion owner Frank Trovato and stylists Amela Bodulovic, Sheila Peters and Lynn Wapniewski for their donation of time and talents to provide more than 50 students and adult consumers at Holy Childhood with haircuts just in time for the holidays last year. Gold Sneaker -- To actor Ted Keegan, who is the Phantom in the U.S. Tour production of The Phantom of the Opera. Keegan donated 50 tickets along with backstage passes which allowed 50 School of the Holy Childhood students and parents to attend a performance of this play when it toured in Rochester. Gold Sneaker -- To Gary Siwicki for his efforts on behalf of the CURE Childhood Cancer Association. A loss in his own family prompted him to seek out a role in which he could make a difference for children and their families whose lives were drastically changed by events not of their own making. As a board member for CURE, Siwicki has spent years in service of his chosen organization. He was recently presented with A CURE statuette at CURE's 25th Anniversary Gala. This award is given annually to an individual who has, through time and effort, substantially supported the CURE's goals. Silver Sneaker -- To Tracy Starr and Trudy Nail for jointly being named "Volunteer of the Year" by the New York branch of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Starr, a manager in the Outsource Accounting Services Group for Insero, Kasperski, Ciccia & Co., P.C., has been a volunteer with the Center for 15 years. Nail, who is a business manager at Dixon Schwable Advertising, has provided considerable help to Starr on this organization's annual auction. The auction is the center's largest single fund raiser each year. If you have a candidate for "Going The Extra Mile," please contact Scott Perkins at 394-3343. His e-mail is sperkins@frontiernet.net. Perkins is CEO of Agility Advertising Agency, 80 North Union St., Rochester, NY 14607.
