Feminists still hypocrites on Clinton's character
Rich, Matthew AndrewSelf-Imposed Silence Says Everything
This week HUMAN EvErs caught up with many of the same feminists who complained about being silenced during the Clarence Thomas hearings to learn their reactions to the allegations that President Clinton had an affair with 21-yearold White House intern Monica Lewihsky and pressured her to commit perjury. This time the feminist gag seems selfimposed.
Former Rep. Patricia Schroeder (D.-Colo.)
On Anita Hill: "I'd turn in my party membership if I could find a decent party to belong to," Schroeder said of the "appalling" treatment of Anita Hill.
On Monica Lewinsky: Schroeder would not comment to us, but according to the Baltimore Sun she said of the young intern, "Wasn't she an adult? Wasn't she of age?"
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D.-Calif.)
On Anita Hill: "Where are the voices? Where's the spine? Where's the anger?"
On Monica Lewinsky: "....There is a process to deal with these allegations, and we have to let that process work." Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D.-Md.)
On Anita Hill: "There is much said about her mental health, that she was delusional, had fantasies. Maybe she was deluded into the fact that if she came forth and was a good citizen that she would be protected."
On Monica Lewinsky: "No comment."
Rep. Maxine Waters (D.-Calif.)
On Anita Hill: "I happen to believe Anita Hill....I do not believe that Clarence Thomas' beliefs or the way that he has postured himself is [sic] good for the nation."
On Monica Lewinsky: Congresswoman Waters' office sta(ed that "she has no reaction at this point."
Gloria Steinem, Feminist Author
On Anita Hill: The next female President should appoint Anita Hill to the Supreme Court"
On Monica Lewinsky: A spokesman for Steinem informed us that laryngitis prevents her from responding at this time.
Hillary Clinton
On Anita Hill: "All women who care about equality of opportunity, about integrity and morality in the workplace are in Professor Hill's debt."
On Monica Lewinsky: ".... It is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for President."
