FOOTBALL: CORK FALL BACK DOWN TO EARTH
CORK 0-7 KERRY 0-19 By MATT SMITHWATCHING Kerry win yesterday's opening round of the National Football League so convincingly, one would find it difficult to accept that losers Cork had recently contested the All Ireland Final.
Kerry, playing with a strong wind, were much better prepared and their victory was never in doubt.
At the interval, they enjoyed an 11-point advantage while Cork came more into the game on the resumption.
The big success on the Kerry team was midfielder Seamus Moynihan, the star of Ireland's win in the recent international series in Australia. He was central to almost every thing that Kerry did and the rest of the players reesponded in kind.
