HOW do you get to work?

I DRIVE, leaving at 6.30am, returning before 8pm.

WHAT car do you drive?

A SILVER Mercedes E240 (I dream of a Porsche Carrera).

YOUR worst day in business?

I WAS presenting at a customer care conference and thought it was going really well, then a very irate customer asked about why we hadn't repaired his washing machine!

AND your best?

THE demerger of Thorn and EMI, which made the staff shareholders in the business.

WHAT was your biggest break?

BEING made manager of a Radio Rentals branch in Central London in l980.

WHAT are you most proud of?

THE fact that I am the MD of a business in which I worked from the bottom up.

WHAT'S your advice for entrepreneurs?

BE passionate about the fulfilment of the dream. Don't be distracted or discouraged.

WHAT do you like best about your job?

THE people who work in the shops and the challenge of managing a long- established brand and producing excellent results in tough trading conditions.

WHAT'S your next goal?

TO be the market leader in the provision of digital TV. The potential for growth is just huge.

WHAT'S your favourite drink?

TEA (and the odd pint of beer). I'm not a wine and spirits man.

WHAT'S your favourite film?

ONE Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

HOW do you relax after work?

SORTING out my three daughters' homework, riding on my Harley Davidson, or sailing in The Solent.

WHAT'S your idea of a perfect holiday?

SPENDING a week in Luttrelstown Castle, Dublin.

WHERE do you like to eat out?

BERTORELLI'S, but more like Beefeaters and Pizza Huts when the kids take over.

THE best TV series you have ever seen?

IT has to be Only Fools And Horses.

WHAT'S your idea of a great day?

A WALK in the Lake District, a hot bath, then dinner in one of the restaurants in that beautiful area.

WHO'S your business hero?

JULIAN Richer of Richer Sounds. The consistency of service is outstanding.

WHAT would you do if you were Tony Blair?

BRING in free TV licences for OAPs.
