Retired teacher Trevor hoarded a secret million
JAMES MORRISONA RETIRED teacher who lived in a rented room has died leaving more than pounds 1 million.
Bachelor Trevor Bonnett, 89, saved all his till receipts to keep a tight rein on his spending, and dressed in shabby clothes.
No one knew he had inherited property in London, including exclusive Trevor Square near Hyde Park.
David Stevens, former headmaster of the prep school in Eastbourne, East Sussex where Mr Bonnett taught, said last night: "In Trevor's younger years his family had been through hard times...and he never forgot it."
His wife Jane added: "He was slightly eccentric, and lived very frugally. Something like pounds 10 was a lot to him. He lived in the past as far as money was concerned. He was a terrific hoarder, just like a squirrel."
