Street Fan Sean's Dream Is In Ruins
CHARLES WARRENCORRIE fan Sean Hopkins spent 10 months building a model of the street ...and then demolished it weeks before it was needed for a TV show.
Bakery worker Sean, 33, dismantled the 5ft-long replica not knowing September Films were trying to track him down to feature in a television special about the soap.
Sean, of Swindon, Wilts, said: "It was the first model I have ever made and it was too big for my bedroom, that's why I got rid of it.
"The first I knew about the TV company trying to find me was when I read an appeal in the local paper." He added: "I hope I haven't let the film company down too much.
"Had I known about this, I would have kept it.
"I'm such a Coronation Street fanatic and I thought this would be a good way to pay tribute to the serial.
"It has been my favourite programme since I was nine years old.
"I watch every single episode on TV and all the old ones shown on satellite."
Sean, who has visited the set at Granada Studios twice a year since 1990, is now making a model of the Rover's Return.
