What a difference a year makes
Margaret P. EganThis story should be titled "What a difference a year makes." Last year my husband and I sailed to the Southern Caribbean aboard the MSC Lirica (Ship of the Month, Cruise Travel, December 2004). The 11-day itinerary was superb, and the ship and cabins excellent. What we found lacking was the food selections and the variety in the desserts. Also, some of the wait-staff were less than enthusiastic about you or their jobs.
Enter Mr. Richard Sasso, formerly with Celebrity Cruises, who in April 2004 took over as president and CEO of MSC Cruises USA (Company Profile, Cruise Travel, June 2005). Under his hands-on guidance the MSC Lirica has had a big turnaround. This year along with 13 friends, we decided to give the ship another chance.
We had a wonderful cruise to the Panama Canal. The food was excellent in every way. The desserts were out of this world. The wait-staff was outstanding with their services. Next year we are planning a trans-Atlantic cruise, and MSC Cruises' ships are at the top of our list thanks to Mr. Richard Sasso and his great leadership.
