My destiny - your letters
C. MathisI just received my March issue, and as always I was excited to read it from cover to cover. But "Redemption" [interiors] touched me so much that I had to write. In September 1995, I was downsized from my job with a major telecommunications company after 26 years. I was four years shy of retirement and could not believe this was happening. To add insult to injury, I had just gone through a divorce after 23 years of marriage. My life was in a tailspin. But there is life after layoffs. I found opportunities to explore career options that I never would have chosen if not for the downsizing. I'm currently pursuing teaching, something I always wanted to do but didn't have the courage to try.
