Bob Guiney's `3 Sides', lame, painful to listen to

Bob Guiney`3 Sides'

When Bob Guiney from the reality show "The Bachelor" has his own CD, something is very wrong.

It's not as though Guiney played small clubs for years until a record executive discovered him and gave him a recording contract. Guiney started as a contestant on the reality show "The Bachelorette," where he was kicked off.

Somehow, it then was decided that he should have his own "Bachelor" show. Somewhere along this journey he discovered he could sing. Somehow he then was offered a recording contract with "Wind- up"records.

Guiney's CD, "3 Sides," is filled with what you expect to hear. These are boring pop backgrounds with less-than-decent lyrics. Every listen is more painful than the last.

Lyrics like "You and me standing on a waterfall, And through the clouds I can see the sun" actually hurt. On songs like "Craziest Girl I Know," he makes sad attempts to be hard. Guitar riffs mix with his high voice like oil mixes with water.

The disc's only positive surprise is that Guiney can sing - somewhat. He has a decent range and isn't too annoying. Unfortunately he doesn't put it to good use.

I imagine that most of the people buying this album are teenage girls who want the poster with Guiney's face. They probably don't care about the CD's 10 lame tracks.

If unoriginal, boring pop music is what you like, this CD is for you. To me, it's a testament to how low record labels will sink to make a few dollars.

How much lower they will go remains to be seen.
