Business classes should earn recertification - From Readers - Letter to the Editor
Charlene WatsonI am an HR professional who recently completed business math and business accounting courses at the local college. I took these classes knowing I wouldn't be awarded PHR recertification credits. After reading the June article, "Five Who Have Made It," I am tempted to list these business-related classes as each of the executives you profiled stressed the importance of learning about business inside and out. Maybe the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) will read the same and similar articles and start awarding credits for those of us returning to the classroom to learn about business.
Editor's note: According to HRCI Director Cornelia Cont, certified professionals may receive recertification credit for seminars, courses and workshops that are HR-related, i.e., tied to the HR body of knowledge content outline. Professionals who can make the connection typically receive recertification credit. If in doubt, call HRCI at (866) 898-HRCI and explain how the information learned has increased your HR knowledge or effectiveness on the job.
