Tough raise policy is good management
Ron KatzNo Results, No Raise" (May) was an excellent article. We need to convince managers to have the courage to use this "ultimate" tool to get the work done. Too many managers fail to have the courage to make the tough decisions. Susan Wells' ideas about the importance of goals, getting managers on board and the importance of ongoing communication about performance are spot on.

My only differing opinion is that having this type of performance management is not "tough love." This is simply honest management put into practice.
