In addition to the Firearms Management System, Sports South offers all dealers a highly developed Point of Sale (POS) system to manage every aspect of a gun business. The cost of this software program is far more reasonable than other POS systems on the market.

Weinstein says the POS system interfaces well with the Firearms Management System. When a firearm is bought or sold, the POS system records the transaction in the Firearms Management System.

"The POS system integrates the two systems in such a way that when a firearm is sold, it is held in a pending status until reviewed by the dealer to be disposed," Weinstein said.

The software handles all types of transactions. It allows flexible pricing, creates mailing labels, prints receipts, sells and tracks gift certificates, handles discounting, bar coding and much more. The fee for this program varies depending on the size of the business operation.

Jerry Lorant, of Lorant's Sports Center in Shreveport, La., is a devoted user of Sports South's software.

We provide more than just a picture and a small amount of text about items; we keep detailed specifications on almost every single item in the system," Weinstein said.
