WELL-KNOWN ENERGY healer and medical intuitive Caroline Myss has written this book to help you discover your true purpose in life. After you've identified that purpose, you will be able to draw up a "sacred contract" with yourself and awaken your "divine potential."

Myss takes a number of approaches to help you discover your purpose. For instance, she describes sacred contracts in the lives of Jesus and Buddha and explains how to divide your body into eight chakras, or energy centers, to find your "spiritual backbone." She urges you to rely on your intuition--and if you choose to follow her path to enlightenment, you will definitely need to leave reason behind.

Her strategies for helping you find your true purpose are based on the workshops Myss teaches and on the more than 8,000 "readings" she's conducted on clients during the past 17 years. As a medical intuitive, she claims she can sense the state of someone's health without a physical examination. The author believes that she can also sense the state of their spirit: "I've found that people in general don't understand their true reason for living, which has led to a Spiritual illness of epidemic proportions," she writes. A theologian by training, Myss draws from a wide range of traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Greek and Nordic mythology, and psychology.

Although the language Myss uses to describe the sacred contract is often as hard to decipher as the wording on a secular contract, her charts and diagrams, coupled with the real-life anecdotes of people she has read, are fascinating. While not everyone is ready for this kind of intense self-examination--and not everyone believes that their life has a true purpose--if you'd like to embark on the quest, this book is a good boat.
