Patriots ponderings - The Fans Speak Out
Michael MitchellI liked your article on the 10 most intriguing stories to follow in 2002 ["As the NFL Turns," October 2002]. But you left one out. How about New England's quest for a second straight Super Bowl title? The Patriots shocked the NFL by winning the Super Bowl last year. This season, nobody picked them to win it again. Wouldn't it be something if they quieted the critics yet again by winning a second straight NFL title? If that's not a compelling story, I don't know what is.

I loved your article on the history of the Patriots ["What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been," October 2002]. Until I read the article, I had never realized all the weird things that have happened to the franchise. I guess that made the upset victory in Super Bowl 36 all the more sweet. After what the Patriots have been through over the years, they certainly deserved to finally have a bounce or two go their way.
