India
O. P. SharmaMr. Joseph Tan, PSA CR of Singapore and a long standing member of IIPC, recently visited India along with seven other PSA members. Taking advantage of his visit, IIPC organized a successful 4-day workshop and seminar. The event proved to be educational for the visiting PSA members from Singapore as well as their counterparts from the capital of India. Mr. Tan conducted portrait workshops with studio electronic flash and demonstrated how to use just two lights to make remarkable portraits. Besides portraiture, he also demonstrated how to make eye-catching fashion shots and award-winning diazachrome slides.
From IIPC Shri G.K. Awasthi, Umesh Mehta, S. Ray and O.P. Sharma conducted workshops on portraits with photo flood lights and still life tabletop by using available window light and reflectors. The two-day seminar included Salon Organizing, Photojournalism and Advertising. Talks were given covering the roll of the photo editor, art director and photographer in these fields. With the help of printed material, layouts, sketches, and photographs taken during the recent Kumbh Mela, the faculty explained each aspect in detail.
Mr. Tan and the other members from Singapore also visited Agra, Varanasi, Patna, Shantiniketan and Kolkata. IIPC conveys its thanks to Mr. Tan for sparing his valuable time and sharing his knowledge.
There was also a Wildlife Workshop, which took place from March 24 to 27. The 4-day event took place in Central India in Kanha National Park, which is known the world over as tiger country. Many delegates from all over the country participated in this workshop. In addition to tigers, many other animals such as barasingha, cheetah stag, wild dogs, etc. were photographed by the delegates in color and monochrome during this workshop. Many slide shows and illustrated talks were also organized for the delegates. Included were selected nature slides from the last few PSA-approved India Circuits.
We request PSA members to contact us in advance when they plan to visit India.
