For the good of all - letters
John C RomanoA message to all NSPI members, in response to Skip Phillips' comments in the convention issue [10/30/02, page 24]:
Contrary to Skip Phillips' Genesis 3 mentality, NSPI will arise from Chapter 11 as the "New NSPI" with its staff, core of members and fantastic volunteer base of people who have run committees, boards and worked with councils--all for the betterment of our industry.
I must remind Mr. Phillips of a conversation we had many years ago on the eve of the Tate report at a leadership conference in Washington, D.C. He said, "When you elevate yourself to the hierarchy of the NSPI" (he was on the board and part of the Executive Committee at that time), "you have to think globally, out of the box so to speak, for the future and the good of the industry."
Where is this global mind-set now? We, the Board of Directors of the NSPI, are working diligently, meeting with frequency never before seen--with staff and councils evolving sound, long-term solutions that will appeal to the majority, not the minority of the members.
All of this is being done for the betterment of the industry and the safety and pleasure of our clients, the consumers.
