Taking advanced classes makes the senior year a real challenge
Angela Mabey, Nick ParkerRecently Pulse reporters ask high school seniors: How hard are your classes this year? Is your senior year turning out to be harder than your junior year?
"Last year was definitely harder because Advanced Placement classes are harder than International Baccalaureate!" -- Amy Li, West High School
"I have three AP classes, including calculus. That's every day, and there's like an hour of homework every night, so it's really hard. It's a lot harder this year, because last year I had only one AP class and this year I have three. There is a lot more homework." - - Nicole Jonkman, Cottonwood High School
"I have four AP classes, so that makes it kind of difficult. It's actually harder than last year, just because I have two more AP classes than I did last year and I'm doing a lot more work." -- Blakely Neilson, Cottonwood
"Last year was harder because this year I am being lazy and not taking as hard of classes. I have more electives this year!" -- Priya Gandhi, West
"My classes this year are the easiest they have been in all of my high school experience. All I am taking is art classes. My advice is that you get all of your hard classes done your sophomore and junior year so you can play around your senior year." -- Chris Beatie, Murray High School
"I think they are pretty tough because I am taking five AP classes, and AP classes are pretty challenging; they're college- level courses. It's definitely harder than last year. I didn't have as many AP classes last year, and this year there are a lot of challenging classes, like English and chemistry." -- Abraham Kwon, Cottonwood
"My classes are pretty easy, except for my computer-programming class. Last year I had more to do, but I understood it better than the elective classes I took this year." -- Amanda Astle, Brighton High School
"Last year was harder, even though I have harder classes this year. Last year I was just getting used to taking AP classes!" -- Steven Thompson, West
