Gabriela CalderonFOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR, LATIN America made the most progress toward economic freedom of any region in the world, according to the annual index co-published by The U.S.-based Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal. Of the 26 countries rated in Latin America and the Caribbean, 13 became more "economically free," while only three worsened. However, among those going backwards was Brazil, the region's largest economy, whose score worsened due to its financial crisis and the government's decision to increase taxes and expenditures.
