This is a short, practical and very useful guide to the benefits system published by the Mental Health Foundation. all health and social care services must now involve service users as partners and stakeholders in the monitoring and development of services. While service user involvement in mental health services is now well established, there is a widespread struggle to make it work, largely due to the fact that many trusts, local authorities, voluntary agencies and service users are facing a hugely complex benefits system.

A Fair Day 's Pay is a very practical approach to the subject. It begins with a reminder that service users are not second class citizens who should be routinely expected to work free of charge, and goes on to explain in detail the payment and benefit rules, pitfalls and guidance for organisations, service users and employers. The guide was written by judy Scott, and is based on her experiences of assisting NHS Trusts with the development of their policies for service user involvement.
