Seniors' career goals are often inspired by teachers, advisers

Danielle Neeley, Carter Thompson, Alison Rasmussen

The senior year in high school is always busy. You are encouraged to apply for scholarships and tour colleges. Your grades are also closely watched.

This year is also very important because it can be the year you choose what you want to do with the rest of your life.

This week, Pulse reporters asked high school seniors if they had decided on a college major.

"Communications, because I want to be a news anchor so I can always be on TV." -- Abi McNeil, Grantsville High School

"Something to do with history because I like it and Mr. Crump is my hero." -- Leianne Shepherd, Bingham High School

"I want to study art, art history and art therapy because those are all the different ways that art can be studied, and I love art." -- Stephanie Godinez, Provo High School

"Early childhood education. I want to become a teacher because I like working with little kids. I am taking child care this year. I would like to thank Mrs. Hill for being a wonderful influence." -- Rebecca Johnson, Kearns High School

"I'm going to major in secondary education, be a theater or a choir teacher, and coach football." -- Chandler Durrant, Grantsville

"Probably English because it's one of the only subjects in school that I can stand." -- Marcie Chidister, Bingham

"I want to major in architectural design. I've always wanted to be an architect, or maybe a marine biologist." -- Matt Karlsven, Provo

"I'm going to major in biology because I want to be an orthodontist." -- Tanner Ricks, Grantsville

"I'm going to major in optometry because I have bad eyes and I want to help other people in the same situation." -- Andy Paulos, Provo

"I want to major in criminology. I'm interested in forensic science." -- Julee Baird, Grantsville

"I want to be a school guidance counselor because the ones at my school have helped me so much." -- Talisa Vistaunet, Provo

"I want to become a cosmetologist because I've always loved to do the girly-girl things, and it's cheaper for me, if I'm a cosmetologist, to get my hair done." -- Lauryl Baird, Grantsville

"I want to become a registered nurse and work in a hospital nursery. I love newborns and I would just love to help them." -- Katie Quarnberg, Grantsville

"My major is going to be English. I would like to teach it so future generations can know how to speak properly, to sound eloquent, make sense and get good jobs to keep our country going." - - Rachel Morris, Grantsville

"Physical therapy. I want to stay involved in sports and sports medicine." -- Aaron Roberts, Bingham

"I either want to major in religious education or theater education, become a seminary teacher or a drama teacher, because I love to teach, I love the gospel, and I love theater, and I want to bring those joys to others." -- Eric Hales, Grantsville

"I'd like to study Native American arts because I've always been fascinated with their culture." -- Kamalei Logan, Provo
