摘要：Most readers of the Bible encounter textual criticism first, or only, in the footnotes of the translations that they read. However, the text-critical notes found in many modern translations fail to present the evidence in a balanced or understandable way to the uninitiated reader. An evaluation of some current versions and suggestions for future versions are offered.
