摘要：The use of bamboo is proposed as a low cost material to solve the housing necessity problems in the indigenous community of Yorkin, located in the high areas of Talamanca. The social-economic conditions and geographic zone were evaluated with the purpose of designing a construction model according to the circumstances. The work strategy used was oriented towards a participative action research, with its principal focus of identifying the necessities of the target group through interviews and field observations. As a result a sustainable home model is presented, which is a direct manifestation of the needs and expectations of the target group. Bamboo cultivation along the bank of the Scui River was promoted so that it could eventually be incorporated into their constructions. Both of the projects were accepted. This newly incorporated model will serve as a new alternative means of community development which guarantees the well-being of the individuals.
