摘要：This paper aims to analyze critically the study
“Competitividade e inovação na indústria gaúcha”, developed by
the “Núcleo de Estudos Industriais” (NEI) of FEE, which focuses
on the period 1985/95. It aims to evaluate the main concepts used
in that period in order to incorporate the advances in the
understanding of the current stage of financialization of capital.
It includes the systemic competitiveness and the international pattern of competition in an economy under finance dominance.
From this point of view, it analyzes the concept of innovation,
including several aspects. On the other side, the concept of
competition is limited by the fact that it did not include the
financialization of the productive capital and the new dimension
of the financial logic in the strategy of the main world companies.
