摘要：This paper examines the behavior of the Brazilian human
development index (HDI), and studies its indicators of health,
education and income the Human Development Reports (HDR)
published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
It also examined the tendencies of the human development by
2004 reports, comparing the Brazilian index with Latin America
and the Caribbean countries, between 1975 and 2004, according
to identical statistics and same procedures for the calculations
of the Human Development Index. The main results showed a
weak improvement in the Brazilians indicators; despite rent and
education Brazilians indexes are slightly bigger than Latin America. However, the life expectancy was below of the Latin
American average.
