摘要：This article presents a brief history of the Faculdade de Economia, Administração e
Contabilidade da Universidade de São Paulo (FEA/USP). In the first part I use mainly quantitative
information so that the reader can form a basic idea of the importance of FEA and of the
behavior, during the six decades since its creation, of some of its fundamental components:
students, teachers and staff. In the second and last part of the article, I discuss the conditionings
factors from our socioeconomic reality that contributed to determine the trajectory of that
school. I also discuss the effects of the existence of FEA as a conditioning factor of Brazilian’
economic and social trajectory. This last discussion is made through the study of the case of a
specific and outstanding ex-student of FEA, Antonio Delfim Netto.
