摘要：New and interesting occurrences of filamentous green and red algae were observed in samples
collected from two urban eutrophic ponds (Lago Moinhos de Vento and Lago Chinês) in Porto Alegre,
Rio Grande do Sul State, Southern Brazil, namely Pithophora oedogonia (Montagne) Wittrock,
Spirogyra reinhardii Chmielevski, and “Audouinella macrospora” (the ‘Chantransia’ stage of
Batrachospermum). Spirogyra reinhardii is recorded for the first time for the city of Porto Alegre.
Pithophora oedogonia is new to Brazil. Cellular measurements, illustrations, and biogeographical
distribution of both species are given, as well as pictures of the ‘Chantransia’ stage of Batrachospermum.
