摘要:Occurrence and seasonality of buprestid beetles in a “Caatinga” Region in Northeastern Brazil
Entomological surveys in the caatinga region are extremely rare, despite the impact caused to this
biome due to the establishment of intensively irrigated agricultures. This study aimed to list beetles from
the family Buprestidae in areas of the municipalities of Canindé do São Francisco (state of Sergipe),
Olho D’água do Casado and Piranhas (both in the state of Alagoas), in the semi-arid region of
northeastern Brazil. Malaise traps were used from March 2000 to March 2001, with weekly collections.
A total of 105 adults of Buprestidae was collected, distributed in two subfamilies, five tribes, six genera
and 14 species. Agrilus and Chrysobothris exhibited the higher number of species. Highest abundance
of beetles was observed during the rainy season.
