摘要:The question of personal identity has been addressed with different approaches, therefore this essay describes how issues of epistemic nature are implied in different conceptions and answers to this question by different theoretical models within Psychology. Largely, this problem has to do with an image of knowledge as a collection of representations that totally reflect an immaculate reality or interiority. Constructivist approaches within Psychology have been progressively deconstructing this image, although without providing any reliable alternative answers. Thus, we present a brief description of an epistemic position under development within and outside Psychology which takes the metaphor of dialogue as its basic principle. Starting with the explanation of the basic axioms of our own conception of dialogism, we then apply this kind of approach to the question of self-identity, taking the Dialogical Self-Theory developed by Hubert Hermans and his co-workers as the main referential background – since this theory is the one with greater impact and visibility in this area. We conclude with a reference to some of the fundamental challenges in this field, mainly in terms of the relationship with other lines of research and areas, such as Neurobiology, Cultural Psychology, Development Psychology and Clinical Psychology.
