  • 摘要:The transitions between educational stages are crucial moments in the social life of students, parents and teachers, as well as delicate points in the educational systems morphology. Thus, this process tends to compose (1) a complex and singular social process; (2) a likely moment of educational failure and social exclusion, and (3) a privileged locus for the analysis of the educational systems development. Corresponding to its 3 sections, the present article lies in these triple approaches in order to propose an introductory analysis of this multidimensional phenomenon, offering a theoretical framework of the relevant bibliography, analysing current statistical data from the Portuguese reality and aiming to include some critical notes and suggestions for future research on this topic.
