摘要：Aim: The aim of this prospective study by the medical service of the general scheme of health-care coverage (régime général de l’assurance maladie) of Pau from 1996 to 1999 was to determine the results of the active follow-up of an out-patient population treated for psychoactive drug abuse. Method: The study population was comprised by a group patients who had been the object of an inventory of patients addicted to psychoactive substances in Béarn and Soule in 1996 and a second group of patients who were added to this list as soon as their existence became known and who were able to be followed for a minimum of one year. Prior to the study, these patients consulted a number of different physicians and chemists in order to procure sufficient quantities of potentially addicting drugs or other substances for illicit use. The role of the medical service consisted in inciting patients to receive care from just one health professional and in establishing a contract between each patient and the concerned physician or chemist. Results: As of July 1999, we were able to study the longterm follow-up of 42 patients and found the following results: – medical and pharmaceutical care resulting from the contracts produced improved health and social wellbeing in 34 patients, – 6 other patients failed to significantly modify their behavior, – 2 patients were lost to follow-up, – 8 out of 10 patients who were studied fulfilled the contract they signed. Conclusion: This study underscores the regulatory role that healthcare coverage (assurance maladie) can play, through its medical service, in a health network which has the reputation of being extremely difficult to implement because of the very nature of the disorder involved and the behavior of its victims, addicted patients.
