摘要:Aim: To analyze the prescription and pharmacy substitution of seven generic drug formulations listed in the generic drug repertory in Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine. Method: We performed a cross-sectional study using information contained in the reimbursement database of the general scheme of the French health fund concerning prescriptions written between May 5, 2001 and May 10, 2001. We selected a random sample from all prescriptions during the study period and performed multi-factorial analysis with logistic regression to determine the factors associated with the medical prescription and pharmacy substitution of the selected generics. Results: In Champagne-Ardenne, 46.8 ± 0.4% of the delivered drug prescriptions were filled with generic formulations as compared to 40.4 ± 0.6% in Lorraine. The type of prescription (common denomination-CD, CD and laboratory name, generic using a brand-name, specialty reference) significantly differed (p < 0.03) between the two regions; CDs were more frequently prescribed in Champagne-Ardenne. Generics were substituted for reference specialties in 22.8 ± 3.4% of the prescriptions in Champagne-Ardenne and in 18.6± 2.4% in Lorraine. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that generic formulations were more often prescribed by referent physicians and when certain specific active substances (for acute treatments) were ordered. Conclusion: The use of generic formulations depends on a conjugated effort between physicians and pharmacists. Recently inacted laws and government regulations concerning drug prescriptions using common denominations have stimulated the generic-drug market.
