摘要:The National Greek Statistical Service publishesdata covering all educational levels. Many suchdata pertain to the social provenance of higher education students. One of the most interestingaspects is the parents’ educational level which, inaddition to a university student’s choices, plays avery important role in the attainment of thestudent’s goals. Our interest focuses on thedifference in the educational level between the twoparents of Technical College (T.E.I.) studentsduring a series of academic years with the intent todemonstrate that, although the fathers’ educationallevel is generally higher than that of the mothers’,the latter has shown a significant rise during afifteen year period (1984/1985-1999/2000). Ourfindings reveal that the proportion of mothers ofT.E.I. students with an educational level higherthan high school is increasing, while, at the sametime, the number of mothers of the aforesaidstudents with an elementary school educationallevel is decreasing.
